Undelete Plus – Free Data Recovery Program
Posted Under: Free PC Security,Giveaway,Recovery Tools
Undelete Plus V2.97 is FREE to download and use for a limited time.
Windows users sometimes find that they simply cannot recover files that they have deleted. Frequently, items are deleted through the Recycle Bin which then gets emptied, or users use the DOS command in which case they do not go to the Recycle Bin but are simply deleted immediately.
In other cases, some files or folders are missing after carrying out a System Restore or a Full Format, but with Undelete Plus many of these missing files can be recovered, unless you have cleaned your system with a cleaner such as CCleaner or shredded files with a File Shredder utility.
Undelete Plus is a small download of 912Kb with installer, or 648Kb without installer.
I would advise downloading the version with the installer and back it up so that you always have a copy.
Using Undelete Plus is very simple, once you have installed the program simply open it either from the desktop shortcut or through program files.
The main interface opens showing attached drives and a choice of languages.
Simply select your drive and then click Start Scan, you also have the option to Filter using all or part of the filename, modification date, size and you can also Hide files which have been overwritten and therefore beyond recovery as well as hiding temporary files.
In most cases simply click Start Scan and let Undelete Plus do the work.
When the scan is complete it will list the files that have been found with the Filename, Path, Status, Size, Date Created and Date Modified.
In the left of the user interface it will list the File Types and also Folders.
In the right of the interface it lists the files found and importantly, it also shows the status of the recovered files which will show you whether the file can be recovered.
You then simply tick those that you want to recover and select a destination for the recovered files/folders and then click Start Undelete. How simple is that?
In the Status column if files are shown as Overwritten then you will NOT be able to recover them.
When recovering files it is recommended that you recover them to an external drive or usb flash to avoid overwriting files with the same name on your hard drive.
You can of course, create a New Folder on your desktop and recover all to there, which I have found to work with no loss of data elsewhere.
A successful recovery of deleted files can be made easier if you defragment regularly, but do NOT defrag when you are about to run Undelete Plus as each time you do so it writes to your disk, as do other programs, and your deleted file will eventually be overwritten.
Normally this would cost you $29.95
