WOT Extends Email Protection
Posted Under: Free PC Security,Web of Trust,Web Protection
Web of Trust (WOT) has now added the top three free email services to its free security protection.
This gives users of Google Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail even greater protection as WOT checks links embedded in emails and the symbols warn users of dangerous websites just as it does when used on search engines.
This helps users to avoid spyware, spam, phishing, identity theft and other Internet scams, before they click any links.
Currently the WOT add-on is available for Internet Explorer and Firefox, which Mozilla have added to their recommended add-on list.
Google Chrome, which many of you will be aware is Google's new browser, has also outlined plans to offer third-party extensions of which WOT has been included in the initial 15 to be offered to users.
WOT is gaining much more exposure with its methods of rating sites and screening known malicious or adult orientated sites.
It is a very simple browser add-on to use, and differs from others as it is community driven, so users have the opportunity to rate sites based upon their own experiences.
WOT has now been downloaded by over 2 million users, and the numbers continue to increase.
This is largely due to its simplicity of installation, ease of use, and being user friendly.
Having used this myself for over 6 months, the WOT add-on is something I highly recommend with over 21 million websites having been rated and of those, 1 in 20 is deemed as dangerous.
WOT users can contribute by rating and commenting on websites, and it partners with a number of trusted sources, such as PhishTank, TRUSTe, hpHosts, DNS-BH Malware Domain list and Artists Against 419.
Upgrade YOUR protection with this free add-on.
