Mac Antimalware and Antivirus – Free Programs
Mac's, long thought to be immune from malware and viruses are starting to attract the attention of the scammers behind rogue programs.
Over the past few weeks I have received requests for assistance in removing Antivirus 2009 and an assortment of viruses from Mac users.
Free removal programs for Window OS are plenty but there are far fewer for Mac computers that are free, but there is good news for any Mac user that has been the victim of rogue antivirus programs, malware and viruses.
PCTools, well known for Spyware Doctor and its removal capabilities as well as real-time protection for Windows based systems have added iAntivirus for Mac's to their list of programs, and there is a free version.
PCTools iAntivirus offers real-time protection and comprehensive system scanning. The database is designed to offer high levels of protection while using low resources. Mac computers are immune to Windows specific threats so the database is less cluttered.
The free version offers the following:
Powerful malware protection, protection against Viruses, Worms, Trojan, Spyware, Adware and Dialers, smart updates, real-Time protection and community support through their forums.
iAntivirus can be downloaded by clicking here

The filesize is 3.8MB
Requirements:
An Intel based Mac running OS 10.5 with at least 15MB of free disk space.
The free version is limited to Home and Personal use only, not Businees or Commercial use.
Another is ClamXav:
ClamXav is a free virus checker for Mac OS X. It uses the tried, tested and very popular ClamAV open source antivirus engine as a back end.
