MSN Virus Cleaner

MSN Virus Cleaner is a free tool that detects and deletes MSN Messenger viruses that are currently circulating.

For some time MSN Messenger has been used to spread viruses and this has spread into hotmail and live accounts.

Many users receives links apparently from contacts asking them to open a file that looks like a photo etc.

The links are not from contacts but from infected computers where users have signed up to services to find out who had blocked them or another service that states that their photo is online.

These services are spam services, they require your FULL login and password details which then grant the spammers full access to the users account from where they harvest all of the users contacts details.

In turn, all of the contacts receive similar messages asking them to sign up to these sites.

This is something I covered some time ago in previous articles which I will list at the bottom.

The files are an executable code that contain a virus.

Once the user opens the file, the virus runs itself and spreads to everyone on the users contact list.

It also creates a network of 'bot' machines.

This tool will detect over 3,800 variants of MSN viruses and also analyzes active processes in memory and files.

After running it will inform you that there is an update, this will take you to the vendors page, but there is no update at present but it is always worth checking.
