Rogueware Sold By Affiliates Through ClickBank

ThreatNuker is another in a long line of rogue programs that uses 'scare' tactics to get users to purchase this junk. Normally it is downloaded via malicious codecs or by visiting infected sites.

This is now being sold through ClickBank to make it appear to be a genuine application, but it is a FAKE program that will find hundreds of non-existent problems on users computers as do the more commonly known rogueware.

I downloaded and ran this in a sandbox for security reasons.

After its scan I was informed that I had 753 problems on my computer including Adware, Phishing programs, Trojans and Downloaders to name a few that we are all aware of.

After scanning and getting the results users are prompted to 'Immunize' their computer to remove these threats.

Then a popup appears asking for the Registration key.

Clicking on 'Register' or 'Get registration key' opens the web registation page with a choice of ThreatNuker Original at $34.95 USD or ThreatNuker Pro at $49.95 USD.

After making a choice the user is then forwarded to the payment page.

This program will change browser settings, does show commercial adverts as popups, will connect itself to the internet and does stay resident in background.

More and more of these rogue programs are finding their way on to the market. They add spyware and adware at the very least, the majority also add backdoor trojans.

They are NOT legitimate programs and whatever you do, DO NOT purchase them, you put yourself at risk of ID Theft and Fraud.

These parasites can be removed with the following:

Malwarebytes AntiMalware
Superantispyware

Whichever you use, clear your Temp files first then download, update, select full scan and remove ALL infections found.

If the problem continues then you will need to turn OFF System Restore, scan again, reboot and turn System restore ON, create a new Restore Point
