Safety Keeper is yet another rogue program from the growing Winisoft family of ’scareware’ that promotes itself as a PC Security program. The Winisoft family includes the following:

Once installed it configures itself to load automatically at startup and also creates a number of fake files which it then detects as malware, but the program won’t let users remove the fake entries unless they purchase the product for $49.95, although the price will vary, and even then users will have purchased the entrance to more malware.

This then leaves the user at risk of Identity Theft and Fraud as payment is via credit card.

Removal is simple and straightforward in most instances. Simply download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, which is FREE, double click the mbam-setup and install the program.

Once installed, click on Update to get the latest definitions and then perform a Quick Scan. Remove ALL infections found and REBOOT to finish the removal process.
