Dr.Web CureIt! Anti-Virus is a very popular and invaluable free PC security tool which is updated regularly, so always download the latest version.

It can be installed on a usb stick, external drive, iPod or burnt to CD to use on any computer and leave no personal information behind.

It features high detection rates for viruses and spyware and has regular virus database updated as often as two hourly during periods of high malware submissions to include a new virus or variant soon after it appears.

This is a standalone virus scanner which does NOT offer realtime protection, it is purely a secondary scanner for on-demand scanning on any computer without the need to install.

It will download as a random file name of numbers and letter with the familiar 'spider' icon. Simply download directly to a usb stick or to your desktop and drag and drop into the usb device.

For updates simply click Update when starting the program and the latest version will be downloaded. Alternatively, go to the site and download the most recent version.

The user interface is compact and will automatically start to scan using the Express Scan and scans Random access memory, Boot sectors of all disks, Startup objects, Boot disk root directory, Root directory of Windows installation disk , Windows system folder, My documents folder, System temporary folder and User temporary folder.

If an infection is found it is recommended that you then perform a Complete Scan to ensure that all malware is removed from the system.

It will also clean the Hosts file to a clean Hosts, and if selecting Yes you will need to rebuild your Hosts either by using Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, HostsXpert, Hostsman or any other Hosts file manager that you use.

If malware is found, I recommend that you also scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to remove the traces that get left behind. Click on click on Download free version.
