Web of Trust Awards

I was very surprised, and honored, to learn that I had received two awards from the Web of Trust, the Top Member Award 2009 and the Scam Buster Award 2009.

My thanks go to the WOT Team and members of WOT, who all make a valuable contribution. A wonderful way to end 2009 and start 2010.

I quote the following from Web of Trust:

Top Member Award 2009

"The WOT Top Member award goes to those members who have made a significant contribution to the progress and development of WOT. They serve the community by giving their time, knowledge and advice to help others stay safe when shopping, searching or browsing on the Web."

Scam Buster Award 2009

"The WOT Scam Buster award goes to those members who have contributed in the battle for a safe Internet. They may have discovered and reported threats or scams that could do harm to others' computers, personal data and wallets, or contributed to research against cybercrime."

I was among 14 recipients of the WOT Top Member Award 2009 as well as being among 18 recipients of the WOT Scam Buster Award 2009. There are also 10 recipients of the WOT Publicity Award.

The community members work hard in the battle against cybercime, rating thousands of bad sites, dangerous sites, exposing rogues, malware, as well as rating good sites that are clean and trusted and helping other users with a wealth of knowledge.

Last year I was honored to be awarded the WOT Scam Buster Award and the WOT Publicity Award

It is very very humbling to receive awards and this was quite unexpected, and WOT is something that I promote on each article I post and it is pleasing to see that readers are clicking the links to learn more about the add-ons and how WOT can protect them.

For site owners there is also the Community Trust Network which gives site owners the opportunity to show that they are trusted in a network of millions and visitors can simply click on the seal and they are then forwarded to a page which will instantly show the sites Trust Certificate, Reputation rating, Site Description and when the certificate was updated as well as read visitors comments and add comments of their own which will increase the sites trustworthiness.

For site owners that conduct business online this a great way of improving their sites credibility.
